The text for this course\u00a0is “To Measure the Sky,”<\/b> by Fred Chromey, (Cambridge University Press, 2nd edition). You will also have reading in “Observing the Universe,”<\/strong> edited by Andrew J. Norton (Cambridge University press), and “Handbook of CCD Astronomy,”<\/strong> by Steve Howell, both of which will be on reserve in Schow. Finally, there will be occasional handouts or assignments for other reading.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Tutorial Sessions\/lectures\/Labs<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tutorials will meet in groups of 2 or 3 during the week in TPL 103C (KK’s lab room). There will be one lecture per week on Fridays from\u00a01:00-2:15 PM or so, also in TPL 103C.\u00a0\u00a0Labs are scheduled for\u00a0Mondays, 7:00-9:50 PM in TPL 301\/402 (roof). \u00a0Labs\u00a0are for observing, lab exercises, discussions, homework, computer work, etc. We will not meet formally for labs for the whole semester; some sessions will be informal, and some will be self-scheduled observing.<\/p>\n
