I’m an assistant professor in the Williams College Chemistry Department. I am a chemical biologist, and my current research interests focus on the development of small molecules that we predict will have antibacterial properties.
I am a father to Adeline (5) and Elowen (1), a husband to Brooke, a brother, a home coffee roaster, an alpine skier, a photographer, a runner, a cyclist, and a cook, among other things.
I graduated from Carleton College with a B.A. in chemistry. I received my Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, where I worked for Prof. Kevan Shokat. And I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Prof. Lucy Shapiro‘s lab at Stanford University.
Courses I have taught:
- CHEM 156: Introductory Organic Chemistry
- CHEM 251: Intermediate Organic Chemistry
- CHEM 326: Chemical Biology
- CHEM 367: Biophysical Chemistry
- CHEM 23: Introduction to Research (Winter Study Period)
- CHEM 11: Science for Kids (Winter Study Period)
