The program, funded by <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/technology-science-congress-climate-and-environment-f084d23d61ebb068068d4aa92c82fdbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">the sweeping climate law signed last year<\/a><\/span> by President Joe Biden, is aimed at poor and minority communities \u201cthat have long been overlooked and forgotten\u201d and struggle to gain access to federal funding, Regan said.<\/p>\n<p>The climate law authorized $3 billion for underserved communities burdened by pollution, including $1 billion that has already been allocated.<\/p>\n<p>Regan, the first Black man to lead EPA, has made environmental justice a top priority and has visited a number of poor and minority communities in the South, Appalachia and Alaska in a years-long <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/business-environment-and-nature-race-and-ethnicity-pollution-0a32ad87719471b081fd18f7d6ec890f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">\u201cJourney to Justice\u201d tour.<\/a>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more from <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/environmental-justice-grants-biden-epa-clean-energy-657a43f21b8ca7800757a72e83f3bc7c\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;The Biden administration is making $2 billion available to community groups, states and tribes to clean up pollution and develop clean energy in disadvantaged communities in what officials called the largest-ever investment in environmental justice.
