{"id":274,"date":"2011-04-13T11:22:28","date_gmt":"2011-04-13T16:22:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cycling.williams.edu\/?p=274"},"modified":"2011-04-13T11:22:28","modified_gmt":"2011-04-13T16:22:28","slug":"johns-unofficial-race-report-yale-lux-et-velocitas-or-move-b-get-out-the-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.williams.edu\/cycling\/racing\/johns-unofficial-race-report-yale-lux-et-velocitas-or-move-b-get-out-the-way\/","title":{"rendered":"John\u2019s (un)Official Race Report: Yale Lux et Velocitas, or: MOVE B****, GET OUT THE WAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was no way that the weekend of April 9-10<sup>th<\/sup> was not going to be epic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hphotos-ash4.fbcdn.net\/218355_795480338966_10511273_39632601_833805_o.jpg\" alt=\"Jen is a boss\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Ephs had been eagerly awaiting a return to New Haven ever since team captain Erik \u201cDivision III majors are faster\u201d Levinsohn absolutely wrecked the Men\u2019s D2 field last year in both the ITT and the Circuit, while the rest of last year\u2019s squad delivered performances which made the ECCC sit up and wonder who the heck these purple-splotched speed demons were.\u00a0 Last year the Ephs walked away with one blue and white polka dot King of the Mountains jersey.\u00a0 This year, they planned to walk away with <em>several<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Combine this determination with a healthy dose of team spirit and absurdity cultivated by Erik, Ian, and John over spring break, and introduced to the rest of the team by frequent references to \u201cMAN VS HILL\u201d and \u201cRAGS\u201d, and the team was in for a hell of a weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Friday\u2019s highlights:<\/p>\n<p>-Erik drinks degreaser from the bottle clearly labeled \u201cDO NOT DRINK, DEGREASER\u201d<br \/>\n-Much discussion at dinner of the general moral bankruptcy of certain members of the classes of 2013 and 2014<br \/>\n-Despite being equipped with EZPass, Team Lexus arrives at the Levinsohn residence after Team Ragwagon<br \/>\n-Much discussion of whether Erik\u2019s proposed use of his father\u2019s Zipp 404 during the ITT would qualify him for the title of \u201cTool\u201d in addition to \u201cRag\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday:<\/p>\n<p>-Two KoM\u2019s.\u00a0 NBD. \u00a0Erik proves he was right to use the 404.<br \/>\n-Ian loses some skin but gains badassery points.\u00a0 His shorts are now on display in the ark.<br \/>\n-Heath learns first hand that the universe has a sick sense of humor when it comes to shifting cables.<br \/>\n-Procrastination as a team sport.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday:<\/p>\n<p>-THE AERO-PHISH<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hphotos-ash4.fbcdn.net\/201674_795477968716_10511273_39632432_6900016_o.jpg\" alt=\"AEROPHISH\" \/><br \/>\n-Two UVM riders ride a ceremonial lap before the crit on a tandem, the stoker rabidly waving an American flag<br \/>\n-A Bowdoin rider who, despite having returned to his hotel room at 6:15AM after a night of partying with the Yale crew team, manages to win both primes in the Men\u2019s D2 crit and come in 3<sup>rd<\/sup> in the final sprint.<br \/>\n-Team sing-a-long of Wagon Wheel.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and there were bike races too.\u00a0 Because no one else has posted these yet:<\/p>\n<p>-ITT (Hill Climb)<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s C<br \/>\n1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 Amy Levine<br \/>\n17<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Jen Rowe<br \/>\n29<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Heath Goldman<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s C<br \/>\n1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 Erik Levinsohn<br \/>\n14<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Ian Nesbitt<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s D2<br \/>\n5<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 John Hawthorne<br \/>\n10<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Henry Schmidt<\/p>\n<p>-Circuit Race<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s C<br \/>\n1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 Amy Levine<br \/>\n16<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Jen Rowe<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s C<br \/>\n3<sup>rd<\/sup> \u2013 Erik Levinsohn<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s D2<br \/>\n4<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 John Hawthorne<br \/>\n36<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Henry Schmidt<\/p>\n<p>-Criterium<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s C<br \/>\n14<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Jen Rowe<br \/>\n27<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Amy Levine<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s C2<br \/>\n20<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Erik Levinsohn<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s D2<br \/>\n7<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 John Hawthorne<br \/>\n13<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Henry Schmidt<\/p>\n<p>Photo credits: Chatura Attapatu<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There was no way that the weekend of April 9-10th was not going to be epic.
