To read descriptions about each position and submit a self-nom, go to our <a title=\"CC Elections\" href=\"http:\/\/collegecouncil.williams.edu\/?page_id=2084\">Elections<\/a> page. Or, check out our <a title=\"CC video\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NnDqaKh-5Es\">video<\/a>, which describes how CC is organized.<\/p>\n<p><b style=\"color: #ffcc00;font-size: 1em;line-height: 1.5em\">Why Should You Run?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Have a\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">voice<\/span><\/strong>. Make a\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">difference<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since its inception in 1913, the Council has worked to represent all student interests and bring positive change to our\u00a0Mountain Land. This longstanding history of engagement and action allows Williams students, though its Council representatives, to critically analyze the College in order to\u00a0participate deeply in and drive dialogue surrounding campus issues, to improve the campus through policy and practice, to foster a vibrant community of 160 student\u00a0organizations and 2077 students. In addition, College Council manages the Student Activities Tax, overseeing the allocation of ~$425,000 per year to fund campus\u00a0entertainment, student organizations, lectures, Great Ideas, and just about anything else that comes to students\u2019 minds.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><b>Here are some examples of work CC has done recently:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Gotten club sport athletes access to a trainer<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Expanded student representation on the Honorary Degrees Committee, making the committee\u2019s work more reflective of student opinion<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Passed a resolution in support of a need-blind admission policy for international students<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Improved the library\u2019s selection of movies and video games<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Established the Entertainment Co-Sponsorship Committee to make it easier for anyone to obtain funding for all-campus events<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Hosted monthly Community Matters discussions about issues relevant to our community<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\">Elections Timeline<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><b>Friday, Feb 13 (6:00pm-8:00pm):<\/b>\u00a0Come ask us questions!
