On behalf of all of us on the 2014-2015 Council, good luck!<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014-<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #af7817\">How Fall 2014 Elections Will Work: 1 Ballot, 3 Elections<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Fall 2014 ballot will consist of three separate elections:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>College Council Elections (all Classes)<\/li>\n<li>Honor and Disciplinary Committee Elections (for the First-Year, Sophomore, and Junior Classes)<\/li>\n<li>Honorary Degrees Committee Elections (for the Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Classes)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The\u00a0membership of these bodies do not overlap, unless one candidate is elected to two positions on separate bodies. Below, we describe each body and the positions that you can run for (the quantity of each position is in parentheses). For more info, see the Elections tab.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>1. College Council (CC):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>College Council is Williams\u2019 student government. CC is entirely student-run and student-driven, and is responsible for being the voice of the student body to the Administration. Some of CC\u2019s main activities include allocating the Student Activities Tax (~$425,000\/year), governing all clubs at Williams and approving new ones, writing and passing resolutions, and supporting the Great Ideas Campaign to make life at Williams that much better. \u00a0Meetings are open to all of\u00a0campus and are held on\u00a0<b>Wednesdays from\u00a07:30pm-9:30pm<\/b>\u00a0(a change to ensure that student athletes are able to attend!)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treasurer (1)<\/li>\n<li>Assistant Treasurer (1)<\/li>\n<li>Class of 2015 Representatives (4)<\/li>\n<li>Class of 2016 Representatives (4)<\/li>\n<li>Class of 2017 Representatives (4)<\/li>\n<li>Sage Hall Representative (1)<\/li>\n<li>Williams Hall Representative (1)<\/li>\n<li>Armstrong\/Pratt Representative (1)<\/li>\n<li>Mills\/Dennett Representative (1)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>2. Honor and Discipline Committee:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Honor and Disciplinary Committee hears and decides,\u00a0either on direct referral by the Dean of the College or on appeal of the Dean\u2019s decision, cases that involve\u00a0violations of individual rights, the rules of student conduct, or the Honor Code.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Class of 2016 Representative (2)<\/li>\n<li>Class of 2017 Representative (2)<\/li>\n<li>Class of 2018 Representative (2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">3. Honorary Degrees Committee:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Honorary Degrees Committee is responsible for helping the Board of Trustees select the\u00a0candidates to receive Honorary Degrees at Commencement (including the Commencement Speaker). Based on campus-wide conversations last Spring, student representation on the committee is being expanded to 10 students (3 from each of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes, as well as the CC Vice President for Community and Diversity). Sophomores will be represented on this committee for the first time to ensure\u00a0that they are involved in the process of choosing their own Commencement speaker. Members will serve for three years &#8211; that is, until they graduate.
