Edward Miguel of Berkeley is a co-author (along with Sarah Baird and Joan Hamory Hicks) with one of the 2019 Nobel laureates, Michael Kremer, on one of the more famous findings<\/a> in development in the last two decades. “The Worms Paper” was one of the first examples of using randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in economic analysis, and found that deworming children is an investment that costs pennies, but yields great positive effects in the long run for school attendance.<\/p>\n

In this podcast, Miguel responds to the active debate that’s sprung up in the wake of the 2019 Nobel prize in Economics. He discusses what we do and don’t know from over a decade of research in experiments.<\/p>\n\t
