Today we had a panel and lunch with some Williams alumni who live in the Hong Kong area. I had not gone into the event with many expectations, but I was impressed with how it went. The panel was more of a sharing session, where the Williams alum shared their stories of how\/why they chose Williams and the different journeys they took to get to Hong Kong. We heard from older and younger alums (one had lived in Hong Kong for over 50 years and one just graduated from Williams in 2016), from men and women,\u00a0from all different types of careers (often switching career paths on the way). After they talked, it reaffirmed my confidence in a Williams education; with each of their diverse lives, they all noted the value of a\u00a0liberal arts education and the importance of being multidimensional. We all went to lunch in the Chinese restaurant on campus, where it was fun getting to know the alums better and chat with them about Williams then and now.
\nAfter the lunch, I did some much-needed laundry, did some work, and then headed to Causeway Bay with Adriana in the evening. We went to Hysan Place, a huge mall, to eat dinner and walked around the area, passing by “Times Square” or at least Hong Kong’s version of it. We made it back to campus pretty late, but luckily\u00a0before the subway closed for the night!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
