There is just a bit less than three hours until I head to the Park St side of Paresky to ride a shuttle to Albany airport! I have finished packing everything, and I have also done some last minute research on IC cards and data SIM cards. I will also be studying abroad in Tokyo this March, so I want an IC card that will work in Tokyo as well. Upon online research, I found out that both the suica card Icoca cards work in Kyoto and Tokyo, so I’ll buy whichever one I can find.
I also want to have data in Kyoto, as it is much more convenient to be able to look up reviews on the go and the GPS function uses less power when data is available. The reason is that my phone can use cell phone towers to locate me rather than true GPS, which requires more power usage. I will be exploring Kyoto a lot, so battery life is crucial.
I also packed the Noh and Kyogen plays that we will be watching. I plan to read them on the plane, but I get nauseous sometimes. If that happens, I’ll try to find other sources of entertainment.
