Welcome to the Early Childhood Cognition Lab (EccLab) at Williams!

In our lab, we study how young children interact with the physical world around them, and how they make sense of what they see.

Our studies are usually structured as age-appropriate interactive games. By observing children’s reactions to the things they see, we can understand what types of objects and events draw their attention, interest or surprise them. From there, we can draw conclusions about what they know about the world. Parents and children alike often find these studies engaging and fun – all while contributing to science!

Each study usually lasts about 15 minutes, and the entire visit typically lasts about 30 minutes. At the end of the visit, your child will be given a small toy or book as a thank-you. We will also reimburse you for travel.

If you’re the parent of a child between the ages of 3-8 years and you’d like to learn more about our research or schedule a visit, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
